Academic Focus

Hubbard’s School offers a more intensive, but less formal way, for Year 11 and 12 students to graduate successfully from secondary school and progress to Tertiary education or employment.

The teaching style and assessment requirements are different from most schools.

Students respond well to casual dress and considerable personal freedom, as well as responsibility. They enjoy the ?university? style environment and are generally successful reaching their goals.

With an academic focus Hubbard’s School strives to prepare young people for success at the tertiary level, with a balanced lifestyle. Students have time for part-time work, or to pursue other interests.

Students currently needing a different school environment for Years 11 and 12 are usually highly successful at Hubbard’s School.

The QTAC offer rate for students at Hubbard’s School approaches 100% annually.

In 2012, all students will be offered a double program enabling them to exit with two sets of results and two Tertiary ranks.

Flexible Curriculum

Using syllabuses designed and assessed by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority, Hubbard’s School offers a range of programs that lead to completing secondary education and which suit differing needs of students.

Hubbard’s School is best known for this core program of completing Years 11 and 12 in ONE year.

Students can enrol after Years 10, 11 or 12.

In another program, available evenings throughout the year and daytime in November and December, eligible tertiary applicants can complete a prerequisite via intensive internally assessed programs in time for the QTAC January offers.

Mathematics B, Chemistry and Biology are offered in evenings. English, Maths A, Maths B, Chemistry, Physics and Biology are offered in November/ December.

January vacation school options, private or small group tutoring and QCS preparation are available for Years 8 to 12.

2014 Student survey summary: Approximately 90% of students were satisfied with the way their physical and emotional well-being was monitored, with the level of involvement of their parents, and with the way teachers made their subjects interesting. Between 60% and 70% of students felt that their confidence had improved and that they had developed better time management and study skills.
