Welcome to Oakleigh Grammar
Oakleigh Grammar has a strong commitment to academic achievement. Small class sizes and the provision of a learning journey from the Early Learning Centre, through the Middle Years into the Senior School ensure that every child is known personally.
At Oakleigh Grammar literacy and numeracy are especially important and each child?s learning needs are met through challenge for those who are talented and additional support for those who have areas of difficulty. Oakleigh Grammar is also ideally placed to implement the forthcoming Australian Curriculum K-10.
Oakleigh Grammar provides for students from the Early Learning Years through the Primary and Middle Years to the Senior Years.
The learning journey of each child is unique and Oakleigh Grammarl is committed to ensuring that every child is treated as an individual in meeting the challenges initiated by their ability and interests.
Greek Orthodox faith and culture underpin our learning journey. The Curriculum is that of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS).
Oakleigh Grammar is an International Baccalaurate Middle Years Program candidate school.
Assisted & Accelerated Learning
At Oakleigh Grammar we are devoted to the needs of the individual child, aware that every individual has strengths and challenges. Through careful diagnosis and assessment we are able to identify those students who have gaps in their learning journey and require assistance to address any learning problems.
Similarly we are aware that every class has children who have academic gifts which deserve extension and higher order challenge. All children need to achieve at their optimum in order to remain engaged.
In addition to attractive classrooms and specialist areas, science, creative and performance arts facilities and well equipped library areas, Oakleigh Grammar has excellent sporting facilities.
A full-size sports stadium adjoins a gymnasium well provisioned for an energetic work-out.
Oakleigh Grammar is well endowed with equipment for Information and Communications Technology. Students have access individually to computers and iPads and their use is integrated into the curriculum.
The Library houses various presentation media including interactive whiteboards. Our Greek language program is supported with many Greek texts and language aids.
As the School of Choice, Oakleigh Grammar has always been founded on principles essential for educating tomorrow?s leaders. The Leader in Me is a unique offering which takes personal development and leadership to an exciting new level.
It is our mission to assist our students in becoming tomorrow?s leaders through high expectations of academic achievement and individual responsibility.
In the Early Learning Centre music is an integral part of the curriculum and the spontaneity of the very young is encouraged. In the Primary Years students participate in music activities as core subjects through listening, singing, playing and dancing. The Co-curricular program provides extension of the core, and children may join the Choir, take private instrumental lessons, and participate in bands, ensembles and orchestra.
Each student undertakes classes in health, physical education and sport as they journey through the School. There are opportunities for students to enjoy sports for recreation and pleasure and also for competition both within the School and in inter-school sports.
Performing and Visual Arts
Students participate in the Creative and Performing Arts throughout their life at the School. Either as part of the core curriculum, as elective subjects or as extra-curricular studies students are encouraged to experiment to discover their creative talents. The appreciation of artistic achievement is developed as participant and as spectator.
